Augmented Reality Drum Kit

This actually came about as a happy little accident while trying to bend FLARToolkit to our will (tracking multiple instances of multiple symbols – a total pain in the ass. But that’s a story for another time). It just so happened that we were rocking out to Kiss’ “God Gave Rock & Roll To You” and it suddenly occurred to us that “Hey, it wouldn’t be so hard to make these things make sounds when they disappear.” So we did. And it was awesome.
We’ve (for once) posted a usable demo, so you too can rock out at your desk. Below is a quick video demo of all four sounds and after the break, you can see the demo of using multiple instances of the same drum.

That’s really cool, how have you gone about getting multiple symbols in one application? I had a quick try but couldn’t get it to work, would some source code of a simple demo be possible or source for the drum kit?
You have been doing some great stuff with the FLARToolkit keep up the amazing stuff.
Sam.
Thanks for the good word, Sam. As it turns out, we couldn’t get FLARMultieMarkerDetector to work properly out of the box — It took some minor tweaking to get it to behave. We’re still working out a few kinks, as well as adding in some features (like events that get fired off when symbols are added/removed). But we’re very close to ironing everything out and we will post when we do!
Cheers,
Jon
Excelent little fun idea!
Can I post a copy of the video on the Augmented Reality Games facebook group?

Too bad you can’t rock! =D
Great experiment!!
Hey
Mindblowing stuff
i was trying to make a rotating cube air based AR application in which each click on 6 side of cube will redirect to a different html pages. i created 6 different mcs with images nd added event listeners they work fine with papervision3d alone but nt in augmented reality. I think the basenode is not supporting any mouse click(nt sure). any work arounds. You have any solution..
Very nice idea ^^
Hi,
I’m trying to change the size of the different cubes, but I dont manage to change the values on a specific cube. How do I change x,y,z on only one of the cubes?
